"Happy Together" marked Wong Kar-wai's breakthrough before his major success with "In the Mood for Love."
The film is regarded as one of the foremost LGBTQ films from the New Queer Cinema movement, for which Wong Kar-wai was awarded Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival.
