Surrogacy - is it a form of exploitation or is it a strategic political goal for the LGBTQ-movement? What function does surrogacy fulfill and who does it benefit?

During the seminar we will talk about what surrogacy is and its status in Sweden and around the world. With a growing sector around surrogacy and attempts to sway public opinion, we set out to investigate how surrogacy relates to the LGBTQ-struggle as well as the feminist struggle. We will among other topics discuss the difference between altruistic and commercial surrogacy and how surrogacy relates to societal norms.
