Jerusalem of Gold – in honor of Israel’s LGBT pioneers

Group discussions with guests from the Jerusalem Open House - Israel’s LGBT pioneers, moderated by Jon Voss from QX.

Jerusalem Open House (JOH) is an Israeli LGBT rights organization that received QX Honorary Award at the QX Gala in Stockholm 2004. The award was presented to Jerusalem Open House for their work on LGBT issues, regardless of ethnic or religious affiliation, in one of the most symbolically important cities in the world.

Join us for an insightful discussion panel as the Jerusalem Open House shares their experiences and sheds light on the challenges of living in Israel's capital city, where a predominantly conservative and unaccepting atmosphere persists.

This panel - moderated by Jon Voss from QX - will focus on the experiences of the older LGBTQ+ population, exploring what life is like for elderly queer individuals in Israel. We will delve into the unique services provided by the JOH and the various challenges they address.

Furthermore, we will explore the remarkable journey of establishing the open house 25 years ago in a complex and conservative city. Despite the obstacles, the JOH remains the sole LGBTQ+ center in Jerusalem, steadfastly serving the community to this day.

Don't miss this opportunity to gain insight into the realities of LGBTQ+ life in Jerusalem and learn about the important work of the Jerusalem Open House in fostering a more inclusive and accepting environment.

The guests from Israel – Israel’s LGBT pioneers will be in this panel. The Social Worker Matanya will introduce the Jerusalem Open House and the Jerusalem elderly program. He will also elaborate about his areas of responsibility assisting the elderly of the Community. This will be followed by stories from the guests Danny Raphael, Efrat and Dany Savits, one of the JOH founders.
